Your existing bookmarks and links will continue to work. Any burart.jp address now takes you to the same article on art-on.jp. We have kept the shape of our article addresses (year, month, article name) unchanged, so links shared on social media or placed on other sites open exactly as before.
About the name
We wanted people to come across art the way they come across things on an unhurried walk. That is where “bur@rt” came from, and we used it for nine years.
The new name places the moment art switches on at its centre. That is why the “o” in the logo is a power symbol.
The moment you step through the entrance of an exhibition. The moment you stop in front of one painting. The moment an artist’s words change how a work looks to you. We will go on recording those switches.
What stays the same
Our editorial approach is unchanged.
- We go to the venue and write from there
- We do not, as a rule, publish articles in exchange for payment
- We publish in four languages: Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean
Alongside the change of name, we have set out in writing the editorial principles we had not previously documented.
