I visited Yuko Nakazono’s solo exhibition “Inhabitants of Color.” The venue is the Ginza gallery Bi no Kigen.
This exhibition is positioned as a commemorative show for the Semi-Grand Prize she received at the 2017 Bi no Kigen Exhibition, and marks Yuko Nakazono’s very first solo show.
Nakazono says she finds large formats easier to paint than small ones.
A magnificent No. 60 canvas is placed at the center, giving a sense of gathering the whole room around it.
“Inhabitants of Color” — a title in which the name truly reflects the substance, I thought as I took in the exhibition.
The color of verdigris green quietly seeped into my heart, and I felt genuinely soothed.
